Special Needs Educational Teacher - Bull Run Middle School, Virginia

SimKare has been a remarkable part of my classroom success. The system has been in place since the 2017-2018 school year. As a result of the classroom use, my students have demonstrated spontaneous speech, initiating self-advocacy for use of the calming area to help them return to self-selected sensory input through the use of lights and fans as well as various hands-on sensory tools. Various student populations within our school setting have utilized the system including general education students with history of anxiety, students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and students with Emotional Disabilities. The staff have utilized the system to collect data for behavior intervention plans as well as speech therapy sessions. We have seen a reduction in exclusionary data for our school focus group because students feel like they have a place to be free to regroup and return to learning.

I wanted to create a facility that was better for everyone: the caregiver/parent, the child or individual, and the therapist. My dream to be able to create an environment that takes the stress away and make caring for an individual with special needs an easier process. The  SIM system by SimKare has helped in more ways than I can count.
Thank you!

It is extremely difficult to put our feelings into only a few words about SimKare. This is a program that will change everything and include everyone because it can learn and grow with the users. The possibilities are limitless. We are so proud to be a part of something so extraordinary. SimKare quite literally opened our eyes and our minds to paths we never dreamed we’d be able to experience. The first time I watched my daughter, who is visually impaired, interact with SimKare, it was like watching her see for the first time. The optimism and hope I felt for her was immeasurable. That is what SimKare gave us, that nothing else could, hope for the future.

SimKare not only gave me a chance to see and experience the daily achievements my friends went through, but it also helped me calm down and enjoy or explore new things in a safe and comfortable environment. SimKare gave me a chance to spread the word about disabilities in our community, help others who needed it, and make friends. SimKare also taught me life skills through fun games, or helped me relax when I was stressed or upset. My favorite experiences however were the ones where I got to help and watch my friends learn new things. Whether it was shopping in a grocery store or learning to control their emotions, I always walked away from SimKare with a smile on my face. It brought everyone joy to help someone through a problem they were having. However, all of these memories stemmed from a primitive time for SimKare. SimKare, in my eyes, is one of the greatest inventions to grace the world, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for it and the team behind this beautiful machine.
